DEFENSE
& SECURITY

Our first-priority segment — and the only one offered all three solutions: autonomous inspection, standoff detection, and Norblis Inside co-development. Mid-IR photonics operating where conventional optics go dark.

NORBLIS mid-infrared defense systems
Spectral Window 2500–4600 nm Invisible to conventional EO/IR sensors · Standoff detection at range
// Why 2500–4600 nm

The 2500–4600 nm spectral window is where chemical warfare agents, jet exhaust, and IR seekers emit. Conventional EO sensors are blind here. NORBLIS lasers probe this exact region — resolving airborne threats, seeker signatures, and CBRN agent concentrations at standoff range, through atmospheric obscurants.

Overview · Solutions 1, 2 & 3

Defence is offered the full NORBLIS portfolio. Surface Inspection for composite and structural integrity on platforms and munitions; Detection & Monitoring in the 2500–4600 nm window where chemical agents, jet exhaust, and infrared seekers emit; and Norblis Inside — funded co-development that puts our world-leading mid-IR expertise inside your program. Compact, fiber-coupled modules integrate into existing airborne and ground platforms without bulk optics or specialized installation.

WHERE WE OPERATE

Counterdrone

Mid-IR laser permanently blinds drone sensor arrays at standoff range — no kinetic engagement required

01

Aircraft Defense

Broadband mid-IR countermeasure defeats heat-seeking missile guidance — effective across the full 2500–4600 nm seeker window

02

CBRN Sensing

Simultaneous identification of chemical warfare agents, explosives, and toxic industrial compounds from a single mid-IR sweep

03

ELIMINATE BLIND SPOTS AT RANGE

Conventional EO/IR sensors operate in the 400–2000 nm window. NORBLIS mid-IR lasers probe the spectral fingerprint region (2500–4600 nm) where chemical agents, jet exhaust, and propellant plumes emit with unambiguous signatures — through haze, smoke, and atmospheric obscurants.

CHEMICAL SIGNATURES BEFORE PERSONNEL APPROACH

Every chemical compound absorbs mid-infrared light at characteristic frequencies. NORBLIS broadband supercontinuum lasers illuminate targets across the full 2500–4600 nm absorption atlas — resolving trace CBRN agent concentrations at safe standoff distance.
